“I am deeply honoured to receive this fantastic award,” said Stijn Bijnens on receiving it. “For someone like me who lives and breathes IT, it means a lot to me. And although it is a personal award, I could never have achieved it without the people around me. Firstly, I would like to thank André Knaepen, Cegeka’s founder, and his family for giving me the opportunity to take Cegeka the next step forward in an already brilliant growth story. And of course, all the Cegeka employees as well – more than 5,500 of them now – who have helped bring us to where we are today.”
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for placing their trust in us. After all, it takes two to tango. Without them there would be no challenging projects, no milestones, no innovation and above all, no achievements.”
The IT Person of the Year is chosen by the editorial staff of Computable and takes into account votes from the public. The most important criteria are: activities in the last 12 months, management style, international image, company achievements and impact on the Belgian IT industry. Computable reports that the jury attached great importance to Stijn Bijnens’ and Cegeka’s international image, which showed strong growth in the Netherlands and more recently, expansion into Scandinavia. In addition, they recognised the company’s innovative spirit – and Stijn Bijnens’ in particular – especially with regard to their ambitions for 5G, which played a major role in the judging process.
