Within EngineeringSTUDIO at Cegeka, we are looking for a senior Java Developer to create software applications in the agile team of 1 of our customers.   • Develop complex and challenging business applications and work with the latest tools and technologies.
  • Hands-on design and software development based on the functional analysis and proper integration with external applications.
  • Working in a driven agile team consisting of functional analysts, developers and an agile project leader/scrum master.
  • Building high quality applications that generate additional business value for our customers.
  • You are a true “software craftsman” who sees software development as a craft, writing high-quality, easy-to-read code and refactoring where necessary. You guarantee quality through test-driven development and continuous learning.
  • You actively share your knowledge and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's operations.
  • You will work in a hybrid scrum team (Cegeka colleagues + internal employees of the client), with sprints every 3 weeks.
  • For certain deployments or a go live, you will work on a rotating basis (evenings on weekdays or weekends). This is extra compensated and occurs +/- 1x per month.

What you need to succeed:

  • You are a passionate Java developer with +/- 7-10 years of professional experience in analysis, design, implementation and delivery of applications in Java technology. Depending on the applications, you work with Java 8 or Java 11 (a migration project is in progress to upgrade the applications to more recent versions). 
  • You have extensive knowledge within AWS as they are in the process of moving to the AWS cloud.
  • You are very familiar with DevOps.
  • You have experience with application integration, good skills in relational databases (MySQL), and you have knowledge of CQRS (event sourcing).
  • You have a thorough knowledge of recent Java frameworks (e.g., JPA, SpringBoot, Hibernate, Camel, Cypress, etc.). Front-end JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular2, Bootstrap, etc., are not unfamiliar to you.
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management, continuous integration and the necessary tools (Jira, GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Datadog, etc.) is a must.
  • You are convinced of the benefits of Agile working or are curious about it.
  • Working according to the principles of DDD and TDD is normal for you. 
  • Not only your knowledge is crucial - we consider your motivation, insight and attitude at least as important.
  • You have a very good knowledge of both Dutch and English (working language, codebase and documentation).
  • You will work 2 days a week on site at the customer in Zaventem. On the other days you will work from home or from the Cegeka office in Leuven.
