Can you give a brief description of your role as a Storage Engineer?
"Hi, my name is Kevin Croughs. I joined Cegeka’s Storage Team in 2017 as System Engineer, and I became a Technical Architect in 2022. I am also one of the Subject Matter Experts for the Storage Portfolio of HPE."

How would you describe the team atmosphere and what contributes to it?

"There is a big sense of togetherness within our team, even though it contains team members from different geographic locations. We get along very well and we can count on each other. Humor, a no-nonsense mentality, and frequent team visits accompanied by after work activities are the glue that makes us stick together."

What do you enjoy most about your role?
"We manage a very diverse landscape of technologies, which makes it complex but also challenging at the same time."

What does it mean for the Storage Engineer role to be non-customer-facing?
"The Global Operations division is the internal Service Provider at Cegeka. We service both internal (other Cegeka teams) as well as external customers, but we don’t have direct external customer contact; this is handled by dedicated service teams."

What skills are essential to succeed as a Storage Engineer in your team?
"The key skills are technical insight, analytical thinking, and the right mindset: being eager to learn, being a team player, and flexibility in working hours."

What technologies do you work with, and what do you enjoy about them?
"Having such a diverse range of technologies in scope makes standardization or automation complex, but it’s also a great challenge. It sometimes requires out-of-the-box thinking. A solid understanding of storage concepts is invaluable when exploring new technologies."

How is work-life balance achieved in your team?
"We combine office and remote work. Flexible working hours allow you to adjust your schedule, for example, working longer at home and shorter at the office to avoid traffic or vice versa."

Do you have any memorable experiences from working in the team?
"I’ve never seen a place where professionalism and humor go together so well."
