What does your role as a Storage Engineer involve?
"I’m Quiny, and I’ve been working at Cegeka for nine years. As a Senior Storage Engineer, I’m responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level storage solutions, both for block and file storage. Within our team, I’m also the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Dell/EMC’s VMAX/PowerMax arrays."
How is the atmosphere in the team, and what do you think contributes to it?
"The team is incredibly supportive. We can always turn to each other with questions or concerns. There is a strong culture of collaboration, and even in the most critical situations, we’re ready to help each other."
What does it mean that your role is not customer-facing?
"A non-customer-facing role means that we don’t have direct contact with external customers. Instead, we focus on internal operations, engineering, automation, infrastructure, and technical support. This ensures that the systems behind the scenes run smoothly."

How is a good work-life balance achieved?
"We work in a hybrid model, with at least one day a week in the office for face-to-face contact. On the other days, we work flexibly from home. Open communication is important, with regular one-on-one meetings and retrospectives. Additionally, we organize family days and team-building activities, such as a weekend in Durbuy, which was very bonding. And yes, apparently everyone loves chicken and rice!"
Do you have a fun or funny anecdote about your team?
"Some colleagues are gardening experts—I’ve learned a lot from them! Others are incredibly handy with home repairs. Even I, with my two left hands, have picked up a few things. As for the rest of the stories? They’ll remain a secret. 😉"
