Few industries have more rigorous compliance standards than pharma and life sciences. At Inovet, these compliance requirements were impossible to maintain with its outdated systems. Cegeka’s validated Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP provided the perfect solution. Now, Inovet’s processes are harmonized, and their ERP system is compliant by default. Inovet is ready to achieve its growth ambitions.
Inovet, a family-owned company founded by Jan Moons, is a leading manufacturer of animal medicines and instrument sets that it develops and sells worldwide. The company has its own facilities in Arendonk and a new distribution and production factory in northern France. Inovet's products are exported to around 60 countries, and it has a network of distributors and agents around the world. The company has a workforce of around 150 employees in Belgium and France, with a combined turnover of 50 million euros.
The company's ambition is to double its turnover to 100 million euros in the next 5 years. However, Inovet’s existing systems were a spaghetti of outdated applications that were not integrated with each other. In addition, the business processes were not harmonized across countries. But most importantly: their solution was not GxP compliant. Given the importance of compliance in the pharma industry, this was a critical requirement.

Inovet turned to Cegeka to help them achieve their growth ambitions. “The primary challenge was to move from two outdated ERP systems to a single system that could standardize processes across the company”, says Liesbet van Dessel, project manager at Inovet. “The new system would help to improve collaboration across teams and regions and enable the company to work more efficiently. With Dynamics 365, the company's sales area managers could access the system from anywhere, making it easy to roll out the solution globally.”
“International expansion requires technology that enables collaboration and unified processes in each country”, explains Lara Moons, Strategy and Digitalization Manager at Inovet.
“On top of that, we wanted a steady platform to easily set up sales hubs in new countries. Ideally, the system lets you copy-paste the same approach without having to do any custom development. The goal, eventually, is to have a system that supports your business processes, instead of relying on people. As long as the expertise and procedures are strictly in people’s heads, your growth will be stunted. So expanding your workforce is only possible once you have centralized data and unified processes in place.”

In its search for an implementation partner, Inovet’s choice for Cegeka was an easy one. “First of all, Cegeka was able to provide us with a solution that was validated for regulatory compliance by independent software validation companies”, says Liesbet. “Moreover, we had an excellent relationship from the very beginning. They stood out during the demo, they understood our industry challenges and they always think along to find the best solutions. We saw this project as a team effort all the way through, which was key to our success.

“We implemented the standard Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, but then we went a step further”, explains Liesbet. “Cegeka built an add-on component for the pharma and life sciences industry, containing standardized processes for our industry. Cegeka’s validated pharma ERP solution is quite unique in Europe, which explains why they have been appointed as preferred partner by Microsoft for this type of industry."
