Bucharest, 28 of May 2024 – The technology company Cegeka, a key player in the SaaS industry, recorded a significant increase in the turnover for its Romanian subsidiary, nearly 30% higher than the previous year, exceeding 60-million euros.
“2023 was a year of consolidating our current client portfolio, and the results reflect our performance in the local market as experts in the field, but more importantly, as a trusted partner for our clients. In 2024, we will continue to provide high-quality services to the local market, a market we still believe in despite current challenges. We aim to collaborate with companies looking for a partner that resonates with them, offers support, builds successful practices and offers a dedicated team for their business growth. Additionally, we plan to expand into the public sector, offering IT outsourcing and consultancy services,” said Ovidiu Pinghioiu, Country Director of Cegeka Romania.
Furthermore, globally, the Cegeka group concluded the 2023 fiscal year with a consolidated turnover of 1,03-billion euros, representing an 18% increase compared to 2022. The Cegeka group has every reason to believe it will meet its ambitious goal of reaching 1,4 billion euros in revenue by 2024.
A significant milestone in Cegeka's evolution, a company present in about 20 countries with over 9000 employees, was the acquisition of the American company CTG. “We’ve catapulted from a European to a global ICT player overnight,” stated Stijn Bijnens, CEO of Cegeka. “We now have a strong presence in regions where we were previously inactive, such as the United States, Canada, Colombia, and India,” he added.
“The year 2023 can be described as one of the most significant years since the founding of Cegeka. For the first time, we’ve crossed the threshold of over 1 billion euros in revenue,” says André Knaepen, founder and chairman of Board of Directors of Cegeka.
Investments in AI, Cloud, 5G, Cybersecurity, and IT Consultancy to Meet Increasingly Complex Company Needs
“We’ve heavily invested in technologies like AI, Cloud, and 5G over the past few years, and we will continue to do so. But it’s more than just an investment. It’s about deploying that technology - or the synergy between these different technologies - at the right time to help our customers. There’s a lot of hype around tech currently. Moreover, complexity is increasing. While there are significant leaps forward technologically, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for organizations to keep up. This creates a critical gap. At Cegeka, we bridge this gap by helping our customers make the right technological choices at the right time, all while keeping a close eye on the bigger picture,” says Bijnens.
From this perspective, in Romania, the focus will be on outsourcing, IT consultancy, team-as-a-service, and Discovery Phase, a new service in Cegeka's local portfolio. This service aims to help businesses make informed decisions and thus avoid costly risks when they want to develop new projects or applications within the company.
“Discovery Phase is an important step in developing a project because, through a series of iterative workshops with continuous client feedback, we clearly define the project's scope and objectives the client wants to develop,” said Lucian Popovici, Engineering Director at Cegeka Romania. “After this step, we will develop a high-level architecture and a prioritized backlog, including cost and time estimates, resources, a roadmap, and other aspects to provide a comprehensive view of the project. Moreover, we make sure that we involve the client throughout the process, and after implementing their feedback, we return with the final documentation,” he added.
Finally, all these must take place in a secure IT environment. This is why Cegeka will continue to invest significantly in all aspects of cybersecurity to enhance its clients' long-term cyber resilience. The company has already successfully done this in recent years, maintaining its leading position in the Whitelane Report for cybersecurity services in Belgium and Luxembourg.
